How Much Does a T3 Line Cost?

For top speed requirements, there is the T-3 line (also known as DS3) option. The rate of transfer far tops the T-1 with a 45 Mbps per second rate of data transfer. And, its price tag must usually be justified by the demands of the serious business user.

As with the T-1 connection the T-3 line price will vary with proximity of service location. Large city users can expect to pay $800 to $1,000 plus per month and this may exceed $1,800 to $2,0000. The rates will tick up from there for the small city user, at $2,000 to $3,000 a month. Service in rural areas will incur the greatest amount with monthly prices reaching $4,000 and more.

Users frequently include web hosting firms, universities, operators of high traffic websites and those with intensive data transfer rates that include video, and multiplex capabilities (data compression without compromise).

Reducing Fees

Probably the best way to reduce what is being paid for a T-3 line is either through an arrangement to share the connection with other users OR by purchasing a fractional T-3 which in effect parcels out some of the bandwidth of the total line allocation.
